Paint With Your Kid, Not Next to Them
Parent & child painting sessions at home in Brooklyn — one project, two canvases, a memory that hangs on the wall. From Paula's Painters.

Most of what we do 'with' our kids is really supervision. Homework. Bath. Carpool. You're there, but you're managing, not making.
A parent-and-child painting session flips that for an hour. You get a canvas. Your kid gets a canvas. Paula guides you both through the same piece, step by step, and neither of you is in charge — she is. That's the part mothers say they didn't expect to love.
You end up with two versions of the same painting. Hang them side by side and you've got the kind of thing you keep forever — her waves and your waves, the same tree in two hands.
No experience needed, and honestly it's better when the parent claims they can't draw. Your kid gets to watch you learn something. When's the last time that happened?

It's lovely as a birthday-adjacent thing for an older kid who doesn't want a big party, as a Sunday afternoon, or as a small group — three mothers, three daughters, six canvases.
